Election officials in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, said that almost 29,000 voters received incorrect mail-in ballots. In an Oct. 14 tweet, the county announced that “mailings are being corrected” after Midwest Direct – the company in charge of printing, collating and mailing absentee ballots – confirmed the error.
The county’s Elections Division said it received information from about 20 voters who received the wrong ballot. It immediately informed Midwest Direct to hold ballot mailings and investigate the problem caused by a “ballot image mapping error.” New ballots were then reissued, and elections officials manually located and set aside ballots from the incorrect batch.
Correct ballots will be sent to the post office from Oct. 15 to Oct. 17, and voters are expected to receive the new ballots during the week of Oct. 19. Those who have received an incorrect ballot before the announcement of the error will get a new one, with their previous ballot “pulled and set aside” for review. The division reiterated that “only one ballot will be counted per voter.”
The county also announced that affected voters could visit its website and use the lookup tool to check if they are part of the batch with incorrect ballots. Voters who have not yet received their corrected mail-in ballot by Oct. 26 should get in touch with the elections division, it also said.
Mail-in ballots with incorrect information were not only limited to Pa.’s Allegheny County. New York City also experienced a similar problem when almost 100,000 voters in the Brooklyn borough received mail-in ballots with incorrect names and addresses after a “printing run error.” NYC Board of Elections Executive Director Mike Ryan said the error “has been caught and corrected moving forward.”
The NYC Board of Elections instructed Phoenix Graphics, the printing company it contracted, to send out new ballots to affected voters to ensure that “absolutely no disenfranchisement occurs.” The printing company has complied with the instruction as of writing, with new ballots being reprinted and mailed.
The errors in Pa. and N.Y. are just some of the multiple instances where mail-in voting can be undermined and subjected to fraud. President Donald Trump has repeatedly voiced his opposition to mail-in voting and encouraged voting in person, claiming that the Democrats will utilize mail-in ballots to twist the election and allow their presidential candidate Joe Biden to win.
Mail-in voting gained ground in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci seconded Trump’s call for in-person polling – saying voting safely was possible if guidelines are followed.
Several election fraud attempts have been documented as of writing in Pennsylvania, which voted for Trump in 2016. Democratic Party operatives have been working double-time to ensure this does not happen again. (Related: Democrats are lying: Vote fraud IS real and it’s been occurring in THEIR cities for years, says an operative who ran ballot fraud operations for Dems.)
Federal agents found discarded mail-in ballots in Luzerne Count back in September. Nine ballots have been recovered as of writing, with seven having votes cast for Trump. Before the discovery, Luzerne County administrators reported issues with some mail-in ballots to the county’s Bureau of Elections. The bureau then started an investigation, which federal authorities took over at the request of Stefanie Salavantis, the county’s district attorney.
Later, footage of shredded application forms for mail-in ballot headed for Pa. captured by an Indiana resident surfaced online. The applications forms numbering in the hundreds were discovered in the back of a tractor-trailer. Based on the footage, they appeared to be paid for by the independent expenditure-only political action committee Trump Victory. The shredded applications would have prevented many possible Trump voters from getting mail-in ballots and casting their votes.
The integrity of the American electoral process will definitely be compromised if the issues with mail-in voting are not fixed before the Nov. 3 presidential elections
