For decades the progressive Left in America has increasingly denounced and denigrated our Christian heritage and cultural moorings, so it should come as no surprise that a growing number of them are finding a home in a new ‘church’ that seeks but one thing: To undermine and circumvent Christianity.
As noted by End of the American Dream’s Michael Snyder, for American progressives there is a natural allure to the Satanic Temple, where “you can believe anything you want as long as you hate what Donald Trump, Christians, and conservatives believe.”
Unlike the Church of Satan, the Satanic Temple doesn’t even believe in an entity known as “Satan.” That’s because Satan — the devil — is a Christian design.
Founded in 2013, the Satanic Temple made clear from its outset that it was a political movement more than anything else. Snyder says cult leaders tell prospective members in the beginning that the only real requirements are adhering to the group’s “political and secular actions.”
But of course, while tearing down our Christian founding and the underlying cultural and social mores that underpin our nation, there is nothing like a little hypocrisy: For ‘tax purposes,’ the Satanic Temple has declared itself a “church.” That way the organization can work to destroy America from within and do so in a tax-exempt status.
The things that Satanic Temple members ‘believe in’ reads like a ‘what’s what’ of Left-wing political ideology and causes:
— Marriage between anyone and for any reason, and that it is an institution that should never be subject to state laws (and restrictions);
— Abortion whenever, however, and for whatever reason;
— Unrestricted drug use because the body is inviolable and, thus, supreme;
— “Justice” is first and foremost an ongoing “struggle” that should prevail at all costs, over laws and government institutions;
— “Climate change/global warming” is absolute and must be accepted because “beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world” — and since global warming/climate change is “settled science,” there you go. (Related: SATAN is causing more humans to murder each other, say cops.)
But again, the group’s primary focus is political, which is to say, Left-wing political and above all, opposing POTUS Trump and conservatives in general.
“Traditionally, Satanists practice very privately, closed doors, black candles, black metal music, but with the Satanic philosophy being where Satanism represents rebellion against arbitrary authority, we believe it requires a level of political participation. I think that we need to go into the public sphere and announce ourselves without shame,” says one member known as Jex Blackmore, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
Had Hillary Clinton defeated Trump in 2016, Snyder says that the growth of the Satanic Temple likely would have been muted. But membership and participation in the group exploded after POTUS Trump took office.
“The Satanic Temple attracted ‘thousands’ of new members in just the first 36 hours after the election of Donald Trump,” the group reported. “The 4-year-old temple, which had a pre-Trump membership of around 50,000, has never before seen a spike in registration nearly this big.”
“We’re definitely a resistance movement,” spokesperson and co-founder Lucien Greaves said following a speech near the University of Colorado-Boulder. “We stand in stark opposition to this idea that we must unify under a single religious banner.”
Positive articles about the group in — where else? — the Left-wing press portrays members as anti-Satanic, patriotic, defenders of the Constitution and freedom. But, as Snyder notes:
…[D]espite the fact that they claim that they “don’t worship Satan”, the group does celebrate the black mass, it does conduct Pentagram rituals, and it does seek to put statues of Baphomet up in prominent public locations.
If it surprised you that American Leftists are finding a comfortable home in the Satanic Temple, it shouldn’t. The Left has been engaged in destroying American values and societal norms and mores for years; now they can do it without having to pay taxes.
