Democrats want to lower the voting age as much as they can because children are easy to indoctrinate

At the same time that legislators in The Beaver State are trying to inhibit the freedom of residents to exercise their Second Amendment rights, Oregon is now pushing for children as young as 16 to be allowed to vote in local, state, and even federal elections.

Clearly an effort to register more anti-gun Democratic voters, Oregon Senator Shemia Fagan and her colleagues are pushing the idea that the time is now to lower the voting age from 18 to 16 in order to supposedly get more young people “involved” in the voting process.

“It’s time to lower the voting age in Oregon and give young people a chance to participate at the ballot about decisions that affect their homes, their clean air and clean water future, their schools, and as we’ve seen, their very lives,” Fagan is quoted as saying during a recent press conference.

That last comment about “their very lives,” of course, refers to the infamous school shooting that’s said to have taken place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, last year, conveniently sparking the nationwide “March For Our Lives” movement of anti-Second Amendment high school activists.

If Fagan’s bill passes, Oregon voters would then have the chance to vote on it directly in 2020. If it then passes this hurdle as well, the Oregon Constitution would be amended to officially lower the voting age to 16.

The younger the voter, the more easily he or she can be manipulated into voting for absolute tyranny

While Leftists all across the state of Oregon couldn’t be happier about the proposal, sensible Republicans like Oregon Senate Republican leader Herman Baertschiger Jr. are warning that 16-year-olds are simply too young to be tasked with the responsibility of making major decisions that have always been made by adults.

“Sixteen-year-olds are too young to enlist in the military, too young to own firearms, too young to own property, too young to enter into legal contracts, and too young to get married. But they are old enough to vote?” Baertschiger Jr. is quoted as saying.

“People are not legally considered adults in this country until they are 18 years old, and I believe they shouldn’t be able to vote until then, either. This is nothing more than an attempt to expand the voter rolls to sway elections.”

The fact of the matter is that 16-year-olds are still highly impressionable (as are 18-year-olds, for that matter). They don’t fully comprehend the implications of more gun control, for instance, or massively expanding government reach to address “problems” like “gun violence.”

In many ways, 16-year-olds are still just children who believe everything their teachers tell them, and who are easily swayed towards idealizing concepts like “saving the planet” – even when doing so means selling our collective souls to the globalists via concepts like the inane “Green New Deal.”

“They lack the real-world experience to understand the bias and indoctrination for what it is and thus swallow it hook, line, and sinker,” writes Tom Knighton, the father of a 17-year-old, for BearingArms.com.

“This is made worse by the fact that as parents we tell our kids to listen to their teachers … As founts of knowledge, at least in kids’ minds, they can tell them anything and the kids will believe it to some degree. Especially since their anti-gun rhetoric is also reinforced by the news media … It’s not that kids are dumb, mind you. It’s that they lack experience.”
